Discounted hotel room rates are available for any number of nights between Aug 10 and Aug 19.  For different dates, check prices at the Reservation Center.

 

Please book early. After July 26, rates are subject to change and rooms might not be available.

We encourage you to book your room with this hotel to save expenses of the meeting.

Executive Commitee meeting and all social functions (welcoming mixer, ABLS breakfast, and dinner) will take place in this hotel . Halls for these events would be free if enough rooms are reserved before July 1st.

Free transportation between hotel and INECOL will be supplied.  Buses will be scheduled in the morning and in the afternoon, according to the program of paper sessions on Monday and Wednesday. 

Also, notice that all field trips depart from the Fiesta Inn.

This hotel is far from busy downtown area. Taxi around mex$ 30-40 to downtown.

There is a new shopping mall (Las Americas) across the highway. Besides the American extensions (Sears, etc) there are a couple of restaurants (Sanborns, other?), fast food area (try "Asadero Cien"), and coffee shops.

Driving from hotel to Instituto de Ecologia takes about (30 mins). Take the highway northwest, turning west to Murillo Vidal, continuing southwest on Circuito Presidente, then north towards Av Lázaro Cardenas.

Hotels in Xalapa (and nearby Coatepec) come in a wide range of prices. While you to decide your accommodation for the ABLS meeting, it may help to consider my listing of recommended city hotels as located in three main areas.

1. Xalapa Northwest.

Far from busy downtown area. Crowne Plaza and Museo hotels are within walking distance to the Anthropology Museum (#12 on map). There is a small but busy shopping mall with fast food restaurants, a "taqueria", and coffee shops on the corner of Lucio Blanco and Primero de Mayo. If you like tacos, you should try "El Tacote" on Ruiz Cortinez south from the corner with Acueducto. If you prefer options for dinner located in downtown area you will need a taxi (ca mex$ 25-30).

Transportation from hotels in this area to Instituto de Ecologia is relatively fast (15-20 mins) taking "Blvr. A. Ruiz Cortines" south to a small section on "Ignacio de la Llave", continuing on "Av Lázaro Cardenas" toward Coatepec ("por Briones").

2. Xalapa Downtown

Many restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance from most hotels in this area. There is a nice park "Los Tecajetes" within walking distance from Hotel Mision Xalapa and Suites Meson del Cid.

Transportation from downtown to Instituto de Ecologia is not too bad despite traffic (20-30 mins). Take Ursulo Galvan to the west until reaching "mercado Los Sauces (#121 on map)" continuing on Av Lazaro Cardenas toward Coatepec "por Briones".

3. Coatepec

The Instituto de Ecologia is located between Xalapa and Coatepec. Thus hotels in Coatepec might be considered also.

Transportation from Coatepec to Instituto de Ecologia takes about (20-30 mins) on taxi or buses.
