BUSES

The bus system in México is well developed, with several lines and routes in a wide range of prices. Al buses to Xalapa arrive at terminal CAXA on Av 20 de Noviembre, east of downtown area (see map). Taxis are available right there at the terminal on the ground floor.

For those flying into Mexico City Airport, you will need to transfer by taxi to the bus terminal TAPO (about 20 minutes). Bus lines serving Xalapa are AU, ADO, ADO-GL, and UNO. The trip takes about 5 hours. It is advisable to buy tickets in advance.

If you are flying from the US to Puebla (Pue), take a taxi to the bus terminal CAPU (ca. 30 mins. ride). Bus lines with runs to Xalapa are AU and ADO.

If you chose to fly directly from the US to Veracruz airport, you have two options to take a bus to Xalapa:

i) take a taxi to the bus station in Veracruz downtown (about 30 minutes). Buses to Xalapa depart every 15 or 20 minutes by AU, ADO and ADO-GL. Check that you take a direct trip, unless you want to ride a bus that stops in four-five little towns along the way.

ii) take a small bus direct to Xalapa right there at the airport. A new service provided by ADO with runs after most flight arrivals.
